You may notice that Bal Ashram has a new name: Abheda Ashram. We are simply changing our name to better reflect the spiritual foundation and vision of the Ashram.

Abheda is a Sanskrit word meaning “non-difference” or “oneness.” The name reflects the understanding at the heart of the Ashram’s work: that there is no separation between ourselves and those we serve.

Our projects, programs, and outreach efforts remain the same. The Ashram continues to provide a home for children from impoverished backgrounds, offering them education, care and the opportunity to pursue their interests and develop their potential.

The boys who lived at Bal Ashram in its early years have now grown into adults. We continue to support the education of many of them who are pursuing higher studies.

Today, a new generation of children from disadvantaged families is beginning to call the Ashram home at the request of their parents. After assessing each individual situation, we have been welcoming these children and gradually returning to our capacity of 15 residents. Alongside this work, our other projects – including women’s empowerment initiatives, food relief, and our sustainable farm and dairy – are an important part of our service in the surrounding community.

The people and communities we serve remain the same, and our commitment to this work has not changed.
